Feature Spotlight

Use the PointOS Mail system to send your staff notices, schedule changes, and other important information.

Setting up your Email on PointOS, and collecting employee email addresses is a great way to communicate with employees outside of work. All email addresses are hidden from your employees when sending email, which helps protect their privacy.

This feature can be accessed from the Mail Center on the Main Menu screen and can be configured from Manager - Email Setup.

PointOS has been expanding all over the US and Canada with our full featured and affordable point of sale solution, and now the world.

October was a great month of growth, and now PointOS Professional is even running a POS system in the US Embassy in Afghanistan. So, if you are ever in Kabul stop and see those guys for a drink!

Tip Of The Month

You can keep PointOS running quickly in several ways.

Use the Compact feature located on the Manager Dashboard. This will reduce the size of your database.

Use the Archive Orders and Archive Items feature under Manager - Maintenance. This will keep your current order list smaller, which will make them quicker to find.

Do regular reboots of your computers. By restarting your computers on a schedule you can keep them running better and reduce crashes. Generally, Windows will become less stable the longer it has been up and running doing nightly or weekly reboots of all computers will keep them running better. Windows can be setup to do this automatically from the Windows Task Scheduler.

Use Add/Remove Programs to delete unnecessary software that may be slowing down your computer. This is good advice on any computer, but because PointOS is generally the only thing being run on your workstations, removing unnecessary background applications will greatly increase the speed of PointOS.

New And Upcoming Features

We have been implementing many behind the scenes changes to the reporting system to make them more accurate and faster. Additionally, we have added a Detailed Report to the Sales Report area. This report will give you a great overview of a selected time period.

We have also added many other features that have come from customer feedback, so keep the suggestions coming. If they will benefit PointOS users as a whole, we will try to implement them as quickly as we can.

We are currently working to optimize all reports in the coming month, and are also working on an easier add-on to enter and maintain menu and inventory items.
